Who we are
Jeeves is personal software made by Nishkarsh Sharma (“we”). It is given privately to a small number of friends and family, and is not offered to the public. You can reach us at support@ringforjeeves.com.
How Jeeves runs
Jeeves runs entirely on your own Mac, as an app together with a background service. There is no Jeeves server and no Jeeves cloud account. We operate no servers that receive your data, and we cannot see any user’s data.
Your licence is verified offline, on your Mac; nothing is sent to us to check it. Jeeves contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking of any kind.
What Jeeves stores, and where
Everything Jeeves keeps lives in a folder on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Jeeves):
- His memory and notes about your affairs. These are plain-text files that you can open, read, correct or delete. They may include facts drawn from your mail and calendar, such as a booking date.
- Your conversation history with him.
- His settings.
- Your Google sign-in tokens, held in files readable only by your macOS user account.
If you switch on backups, a backup encryption key is kept in the macOS Keychain.
Google user data
Jeeves accesses Google data only after you connect your Google account and grant consent. It asks for two permissions (scopes):
| Scope | What Jeeves does with it |
|---|---|
https://www.googleapis.com/ | Reads your messages to notice bookings, deadlines, renewals, commitments and the like. It cannot send, delete or change mail. |
https://www.googleapis.com/ | Reads your events to prepare briefings, and may create or change events when you ask him to. |
You may also connect a separate work Google account. It is used read-only, for your work calendar and meeting preparation.
How we use Google user data
Solely to provide Jeeves’s features to you: briefings, reminders, keeping track of commitments, and answering your questions.
- We do not sell it.
- We do not use it for advertising.
- We do not use it to build or train AI or machine-learning models, generalised or otherwise.
- We do not transfer it to anyone except as described below.
- No human, the developer included, reads it. It never reaches us.
Sharing and transfer
To understand your messages and compose replies, Jeeves sends relevant content, which can include excerpts of your mail and calendar entries, to Anthropic’s Claude. This is done through the Claude Code software running on your own Mac, using your own Claude subscription and account. That processing is governed by Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy, and by the settings of your own Claude account, including whether conversations may be used to improve Anthropic’s models.
There is no other transfer of Google user data.
Limited Use
Jeeves’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Other services, if you turn them on
These are off unless you enable them.
- Weather. Open-Meteo receives only a latitude and longitude, with no name or account.
- Optional read-only connections that you configure with your own keys: Slack, Linear, Notion, GitHub, Booking.com, Google Hotels via SerpApi, and Google Maps. Each receives only the requests needed for that feature.
- Notifications to your iPhone go from your Mac directly to Apple’s push service.
- Encrypted backups, if switched on, are written to a folder you choose, by default your own iCloud Drive. They are encrypted on your Mac with a recovery phrase that only you hold; Apple and we cannot read them.
Security
Your data stays on your device. Its files are restricted to your user account, network connections use HTTPS, and backups are encrypted.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept on your Mac until you delete it.
To revoke Google access
Go to your Google Account, then Security, then Third-party apps & services (myaccount.google.com/permissions), choose Jeeves, and select Remove access.
To remove Jeeves and everything he stores
- In the app, open the gear menu, choose Jeeves’s Service… and then Dismiss Jeeves, choosing to delete his household folder. (Alternatively, delete
~/Library/Application Support/Jeevesyourself.) - Delete the app.
- Delete any backup archives from your backup folder.
Children
Jeeves is not directed at children, and is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the update on this page with a new date.
